OCEANS'13 MTS/IEEE

The prestigious OCEANS Conference, jointly sponsored by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the Oceanic Engineering Society of the institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE/OES), is a major international forum for scientists, engineers and responsible ocean users to promote, disseminate and exchange their knowledge, ideas, applications and scientific-technical advances in Oceanic Engineering and Marine Technology. This is done with the purpose of raising awareness regarding the important role played by the sea in our lives and our environment, and the use of technology to preserve it.

OCEANS'13 MTS/IEEE Bergen features to tutorials on special interest topics, a comprehensive technical program of lectures and presentations, a student program, and a large exhibit hall with products from numerous companies, all emphasizing in particular on "The Northern dimension and Challenges"

10th European Week of Regions and Cities

The OPEN DAYS-European Week of Regions and Cities is the annual key event for regional and local authorities to showcase their capacity for creating growth and jobs and implementing European Union cohesion policy, as well as proving the importance of the local level for good European governance. Organised by the EU Committee of the Regions and the European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional Policy (DG REGIO), this communication and networking platform regularly brings together regions and cities from all over Europe and beyond, providing to thousands of local, regional, national and European decision-makers and experts a real market place for exchange and debate on projects and questions related to regional and local development.

In 2012, the OPEN DAYS will consist of about 100 workshops, debates, and networking opportunities for about 6,000 participants. The purpose of this information pack is to explain to potential event partners how OPEN DAYS 2012 will be organised and to lay out the roles and tasks for organisers and event partners in order to create a common understanding and to facilitate the event's management and its communication to the public.
